  3. Gary has a very strange relationship with Ike. He protects Gary but won't let him pet the dog it was quite weird that he let Olaf the Farmer pet him.

Olaf is a Villan in a Lemony Snicket book ( A Series of Unfortunate Events )

    1. Emma dont you mean Dirk, Ike is the dog that Gary hunted with.

And what was the point of pointing out the name of the guy named Olaf in the book compared to Count Olaf in the series of unfortunate events?!

*English accent* I am very sorry to say, but that was completely of topic

  4. In the book My Life in Dog Years, you would never guess what personality's dogs can have. The author connects with these dogs in amazing ways. I really like this book.

    2. Some of the dogs are protective by making sure everyone is alright and some are very helpful. Like, there was one dog who would help the author hunt. Others are gentle, because they let you play with them and they don't growl or hurt you. Some dogs in the book are caring and the watch over the author. There was one dog called Cookie who saved the authors life by pulling him out of ice. All the dogs in this book have great and helpful personalities.

  10. Gary Paulsen has had a very sad/rough childhood:

    1.His parent are drunks

2.At one point of his life he lived in the Philippines after the war
and I think it kind of scared his life because he has seen a lot of dead people

3.He was constantly bullied and those bullies would punch him kick him and take away all of his hard earned money from setting up the pins at a Bowling alley which is a very tiring job

    1. How do you think his childhood affected him as an adult? Do you think it changed him, and if so, how?

    3. I know right
for a second there i thought he was gonna bite the kids hand of when he was gonna get that hot dog <(._.)>

    4. I have a connection about when Caesar's owner left. I was babysitting a puppy and when the owner left he did not eat for three days but after that he started eating like a horse. I loved that puppy.

  12. Ceaser is a interesting dog he is so kind to children!

  13. Caesar was very gentle to children. He was very careful taking the hot dog away from the little girl even though he has huge jaws. All the people at the picnic said they loved Caesar.
Yesterday I watched something on the news that was similar to the story about Caesar. There was a hippo that saved a crocodile from eating an young animal in the water. After the crocodile was gone the hippo, gently using his massive jaw tried to get the animal out the water. It was like Caesar gently using his big jaws to get the hot dog from the little girl.

  16. I found that the owner just leaving ceaser there was kind of like animal cruelty i mean here let me explain

    ReplyDelete
  17. when Gary was going to see if he wanted to keep the dog or not. The original owner of Ceaser just talked about him and then just left the house without Ceaser and is it really true that they would not allow dogs on the island im not very sure about that im going to do a little bit of research so i can be proven right or be proven wrong. -______-

  18. Okay i did "some" research on that Dogs were not allowed to go on the Hawaiian Islands
so far it doesn't seem like that, that was very true. But i am still not very sure. I should ask someone that has lived on or know a lot about Hawaii. Hmmm... do any of you guys no any one

    ReplyDelete

    1. There are dogs in Hawaii. But to bring a dog from the mainland, or any other place the dog must stay in quarantine 120 days. Some breeds are not allowed at all. Hawaii is rabies free and these laws are designed to keep it that way. There are some exceptions, but is is very difficult. Most pets fall under these restrictions.

    2. Okay, now I completely understand why. Thank you for explaining that to me. :)

  19. Forget about it guys i know who to ask now......

    1. I have a connection to the dog Rex. In the movie Babe, where there is a farm, there is a dog called Rex and he is a sheep dog. He also watches over the farm animals and makes sure everything is right at the farm. He makes sure all the animals are following the rules. Like, making sure the animals don't go inside the house, or making sure there being feed and things like that. Just like Rex in the book My Life in Dog Years.

  21. wow Fred really did not like that fence.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Wow I thought that Fred was crazy because he kept on going to tackle that electric fence with his bearing jaws just so he could go eat his lunch with pig. (that was not very smart.)
i once did the same thing to an electric fence accept i didn't use my mouth. My dad dared me to lay against a fence and I did.... it was not very fun.

    1. Poor Gary must have been absolutely TERRIFIED when Fred did that, at least I would have been terrified!

      Delete
    2. I don't think Fred was crazy because he was charging at the electric fence and trying to break it for his friend Pig. He wanted to go and see Pig because Pig was his friend. He was doing it for a good reason. Not just because.

    3. It sill was very scary that Fred could of died from the electricity.

  24. Quincy was very very protective and brave because he saved the authors wife from a bear that was about to attack her. Quincy did it by charging and attacking the bear. It was very good that Quincy didn't get hurt after that.

  27. Why do you think Gary Paulsen wrote this book?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I think the reason Gary Paulsen wrote this book was because he loved his dogs and wanted them to always be remembered by letting people know what wonderful dogs they were. He wanted people to know all the good times he had with them.

  28. I believe he wrote this book to share all of his adventures and wonderful times with al of the dogs he had in the past.

  32. Josh was very smart. He understood what people where saying most of the time. He would act like a person. When Gary had people over at his house, Josh would escort the people one by one to their car when they had to leave. Josh was a very good host.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Josh was also very funny because when Gary put some shades on Josh in the car they went through a drive through, when Gary asked for a "Turkey Sub" Josh looked at the drive through person nodded his head with the shades on and turned away. It is funny how he can act out different personalities.
